Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, in the midst of Ski amadé, Austria’s largest ski area (760 kilometres of pistes), is the place to be for ski and snowboard enthusiasts. With Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl (10 km away) and the Radstadt Altenmarkt ski area (2.5 km away), two of Salzburg’s most popular ski areas are in the direct vicinity of the Hotel Schartner.

Skiing in Altenmarkt and Zauchensee
While the Radstadt-Altenmarkt ski area is particularly family-friendly with 18 km of wide pistes and eight cable cars with practice lifts at the valley stations, the Zauchensee ski area with 80 km of pistes and 25 cable cars as well as guaranteed snow from the beginning of December to April also attracts experienced summit strikers.
Those who are standing on skis for the first time are also well looked after: Professional ski instructors at the three ski schools in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee show you how it’s done. So even complete beginners quickly become professionals!

If you don’t have any equipment and don’t want to buy it separately, you can get everything you need for fun on the slopes at Intersport Schneider. Our partner for ski rental and service is only 50 m away from the hotel. With the right equipment and the ski pass, which you can of course get directly at the hotel reception, nothing stands in the way of a great day on the slopes.

In addition, there is a wide range of other winter activities that are fun for young and old. Some get to know the surrounding mountain landscape better on winter hikes or cross-country skiing (trails start right next to the hotel). For families with children, tobogganing, a horse-drawn carriage ride or a day at the Erlebnistherme Amadé are special fun. Those who want to take a day off from the sports and leisure programme in between can go on a shopping tour through the many shops in Altenmarkt or relax in the hotel’s own wellness area.
